Report Title
Lab Partner(s)
Problem:
The problem is the question that is being investigated by the lab activity. It may be stated as a question or in a declarative form.
Hypothesis:
The hypothesis should be stated in an if/then format. The if describes the solution and the then describes what would be observed to support the proposed solution.
Procedure:
The procedure includes a summary of the lab protocol which outlines the important steps of the lab in general terms.
No personal pronouns are used in the description of the procedure
No specific quantities are mentioned
Techniques must be described using the proper name (for example: "micropipette cell homogenate into a test tube")
The summary must also include a drawing of the lab setup (if a computer graphic is used, it must include a citation of the source)
If the student created the experimental design, it should be described here in numbered steps.
Data:
Tables: Please make sure to use units and Guggenheim Notation for all quantitative data (quantity/ +- uncertainty)
Real Time Graphs (graphs generated by loggerpro would be placed here)
Calculations: N/A
Graphs: A visual method used to determine the relationship between two direct measurements. The resulting slope is considered a calculation.
Results/Analysis:
Provide a specific statement of findings based upon data (for example: a 10% increase in amylase concentration resulted in a 15% increase in sugar production)
Description of experimental error: explain the error built into the laboratory setup and explain how that error may have impacted your findings. This is an analysis of inherent laboratory error, not human error.
Analysis: Answers to the specific analysis questions posed in the lab should be placed here.
Conclusion:
Provide a generalization of the overall relationship revealed by the data (for example: an increase in amylase concentration results in a direct increase of sugar production)
If the hypothesis is supported or refuted by the data, state so here and explain.
How does the relationship discovered in lab resolve the problem? Further work that might be done to investigate the problem is also suggested here.
