Class Room Procedures and Responsibilities
1. Students are expected to be in their seats and ready for class to beginonce the bell has sounded. No drinks, other than water, will beallowed in the classroom. No gum!
2. Students are expected to respect all individuals and property in theclassroom. Courtesy is of the utmost importance.
3. Honesty is expected. Plagiarism: Copying someone else's written presentation/ words ( this includes your text and other books/ encyclopedias/CD-ROMS/Internet sources) and handed in as your own work will result in a zero on the assignment in question. Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any work submitted. It is a violation of the School Honor Code and students found guilty may be removed from this course in addition to any other disciplinary action taken by the school.** If you had any help that you don't want your teacher or parents to know about, you probably cheated.
** If you didn't think of it and write it on your own, and you didn't cite ( or write down ) the sources where you found the ideas or words, it's probably plagiarism.
4. All homework Must conclude with the pledge. All tests and quizzes will include the pledge. The Pledge will be written in its proper form... "I have neither accepted nor given any help on this work..."
5. Students are expected to bring the required materials (notebook, pen and/or pencils) for the class each day. All writings will be done in pen and MUST be legible. All outside writing assignments will be typed.
6. All homework or assignments will be turned in at the beginning of the period. Work completed during class will NOT be accepted. If you must leave school early, for an appointment, sports or illness, please send your homework to class via a friend or the Upper School office. In return I will get all graded work back to you as soon as possible.7. It is YOUR responsibility to ask your teacher for missed work. Make-up testing will be with me.
8. Students are expected to pay attention and take notes during class. Note taking in class will not be on a computer. Any work done for other classes during this class will be confiscated and NOT returned.9. Participation: Each student will be expected to contribute to classroom discussions on a regular basis and be active participants in the classroom. Students will be called upon to explain concepts discussed in the readings. Points will be deducted from the participation grades for late arrivals (tardies).
Testing Procedures
1. All testing dates are on your assignment sheet and BLACKBOARD ... BE PREPARED! Keep up
with your reading.
2. During a test there will be NO questions answered.3. During a test you may NOT leave the room, get your drinks and use the facilities before you come to class.
4. There will be absolute quiet during testing.
5. All books and bags must be put to the front of the classroom or left outside. You will need a pencil with a good eraser and a pen ( black or blue).
6. Check your Scantron carefully for erasures or numbering errors BEFORE you turn it in. There will be no corrections after it is turned in.
7. Make-Up Policy: Since all tests or examinations are assigned at the beginning of the
trimester, if you are absent from class on the day before a scheduled
test you ARE expected to take that test on the testing day.** Students who are absent from class on the day of a test, but not any
other days preceding the test, ARE expected to take the makeup test on
the day that they return to school.**Students with excused absences who have been absent for an extended
period of time should see the teacher to arrange extra help and a test
date.
** Students who arrive late to school (after their class period) or because of a prearranged early dismissal or school activity, are absent from class on the day of a scheduled test or
assignment MUST make arrangements beforehand for taking the test.
Taking the test during a free period BEFORE you leave is the best alternative. It is your responsibility to make the necessary arrangements with the instructor to complete the work accordingly.
11. All outside work and tests MUST BE SIGNED WITH THE HONOR CODE.
YOU are responsible for your work and your behavior. Take responsibility for your success as well, leave your mark!Plan ahead !!! Assignments are posted for the entire trimester so that you may plan. It is your responsibility to check BlackBoard and the Syllabus for any updates.
