| The introduction should funnel information to a thesis
statement. Start with an interesting FACT or ANECDOTE or QUOTATION : (fill
in the blank with an idea of your
own)____________________________________________
Make the introduction three sentences in length with the thesis sentence LAST so that the introduction looks like an inverted funnel. The body paragraphs should offer eight to ten details that support the inferences in the thesis statement.
The conclusion should start with the thesis statement restated. Then reinvert the funnel and conclude. Now practice this technique with your invented thesis statement. Write your thesis statement. Then list the individual inferences in this statement. http://www.speakeasy.org/~anitra/unicorn/essays.htmll Home |
